Skinny Affair is a life + style blog inspiring readers to get glowing from the inside out through style and wellness/health.
Skinny Affair’s blogger, Melissa Quin, is a glow getter, yoga obsessed, green juice drinking Californian living in Philadelphia. She also has a cute little puppy named Maddie.
I want Maddie to be a happy and healthy pup. I truly believe that starts with nutrition. Since I like knowing what’s in my own food, it’s important for me to know what’s in Maddie’s food (it totally wouldn’t be fair otherwise).
Last year, I was grocery shopping at Whole Foods and near the checkout line was a pet section! Maddie was almost out of food so I decided to pick up Tender & True Pet Food.
I love this pet food brand because it’s very nutritious and according to Maddie…extremely delish.
Tender & True is USDA organic and comes in dry and wet versions (I give Maddie the dry version). It’s even made of chickens that were never treated with antibiotics or hormones. Here’s a deeper look into the ingredients…
- U.S. Raised USDA Organic Chicken (Just think…like the organic chicken you get from your local butcher)
- A blend of organic ingredients, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals (For example: Vitamin E, Omega 3 Fatty Acids, and Omega 6 Fatty Acids — hello healthy, shiny coat! )
- No corn, wheat or soy
- No artificial preservatives, colors or flavors
- No added hormones
Maddie’s on a grain-free diet, so she eats Tender & True’s Chicken & Liver Recipe. This recipe is GAP Certified (Step 3) by the Global Animal Partnership — not many pet food brands have this. This certification means their chickens are humanely raised.
If you’re looking for organic and/or grain-free dog food, I’ve done my research and completely recommend this brand. Find Tender & True exclusively at your local Whole Foods or order online here.
